Big Mac Style Smash Tacos
Burgers meet tacos in this seriously delicious dinner mash-up! These Big Mac Style Smash Tacos feature juicy, golden beef mince smashed straight onto soft tortillas, topped with melted cheese, crunchy lettuce, tangy pickles, diced onion and creamy burger sauce.
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 8 tasty cheese slices
- ½ lettuce, finely shredded
- ½ brown onion, finely diced
- 8–12 pickle slices, or to taste
- Burger sauce, to serve
- From your pantry:
- Salt and pepper
- A little cooking oil, if needed
Instructions
- Prepare your toppings - Finely shred the lettuce, dice the onion and slice the pickles if needed. Set everything aside so it's ready to go once your tacos are cooked.
- Get smashing! - Divide the beef mince into 8 equal portions. Place one portion onto each tortilla and use your fingers or the back of a spoon to press it into a thin, even layer, spreading almost to the edges. Season the beef with salt and pepper.
- Cook the smash tacos - Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Place a tortilla into the pan, beef-side down, and press firmly with a spatula to get that delicious smash-burger crust. Cook for approximately 3–4 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- Flip and add the cheese - Carefully flip the tortilla so the beef faces upwards. Place a slice of tasty cheese over the cooked beef and continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes, until the tortilla is lightly golden and the cheese has melted. Repeat with the remaining tacos.
- Load them up - Top each smash taco with shredded lettuce, diced onion and pickle slices. Drizzle generously with burger sauce for that classic cheeseburger flavour.
- Fold and enjoy! - Fold the tortillas slightly like tacos and serve immediately while the beef is juicy, the cheese is melted and the tortillas are warm and golden.
